About hong kong grand opera

Nurture | Create | Produce

HKGO’s mission is to train and nurture a group of local emerging artists to perform at an international level and therefore accumulate talents for Hong Kong.

We continue our specific vocal training to incubate and develop home-grown artists by giving them the platform and opportunity to perform - by staging meaningful operas and operas-in-concert, as well as less formal performances by collaborating with other institutions such as Tai Kwun, the Fringe Club, the Eaton Club, Soho House, Foreign Correspondents’ Club, etc., thereby encouraging them in their developmental journey. We intend to promote the culture of local talents by further strengthening the status of Hong Kong as a hub capable of nurturing talents, extending the friendship and performance capabilities locally, to the Greater Bay Area with aspirational international plans. Equally important, HKGO has a mission to expand the audience base in Hong Kong by bringing operas to students, their families and also the underprivileged in Hong Kong, particularly students and youths, the hearing impaired and other underserved communities, etc.

HKGO is an NGO, with “Section 88” tax exemption privileges. Although HKGO is a young company, its principals and artistic personnel have rich opera experiences.
